On May 7th, the featured guest is Brett Simon, Director of K9 Operations for K-9s for Warriors based out of Florida. Did you know that 95% of dogs used in the K9s For Warriors program are rescue/shelter dogs? The K-9s For Warriors mission statement states this, “K9s For Warriors is dedicated to providing service canines to our warriors suffering from post-traumatic stress and/or traumatic brain injury as a result of military service post 9/11. Our goal is to give a new leash on life to rescue dogs and military heroes, empowering warriors to return to civilian life with dignity and independence.”

The Tortoise Group is a non-profit corporation concerned for the welfare of captive and free-living desert tortoises, Gopherus agassizii. Tortoise Group helps people understand the needs of captive tortoises and ways to use the desert with the least negative impact on wild tortoises and their habitat. It does this by programs that are in keeping with state and federal laws protecting the desert tortoise.
